Plain-language summary
Rolens is a camera and photo editor that works without a Rolens account. Photographs you capture or import, edit instructions, film rolls, albums, and settings are stored on your device. Rolens does not upload your photographs to a Rolens server.
Some features do communicate with third-party services: the app can download signed creative resources, verify purchases through RevenueCat and the platform store, and request and display Google Mobile Ads after the applicable consent flow. If you contact support, your email and the information you choose to include are sent to us.
Data Rolens handles
| Data or permission | What happens | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | The live camera feed and captured pixels are processed on your device. Camera access is required to take photographs. | Live preview, capture, film and lens rendering. |
| Photographs and edits | Captured or imported photographs, thumbnails, edit recipes, rolls, and albums remain in app-controlled storage on your device. Exported copies are written to the system photo library when you ask Rolens to save them. | Capture, organize, edit, export, and recover your work. |
| Approximate location | Only when you enable the location stamp, Rolens requests approximate or reduced location while the app is in use and reads it at capture time. Rolens does not request background or precise location permission. | Print an optional city/country or location token into the photograph. |
| Purchase information | Apple or Google handles payment. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, store receipt or purchase token, product, transaction, subscription and entitlement status, plus app/device information and SDK diagnostics when diagnostics are enabled. Rolens does not receive your payment card details. | Offer products, validate purchases, restore access, troubleshoot the purchase SDK, prevent purchase fraud, and measure subscription performance. |
| Advertising data | When ads are configured, Google Mobile Ads and the User Messaging Platform may process IP address, device or advertising identifiers, consent choices, ad interactions, and diagnostics under Google's policies. Rolens uses rewarded ads to unlock an offered resource and may show interstitial ads at defined moments. Ads are requested only when the consent SDK says they may be requested. On iOS, ads are non-personalized and Rolens does not request IDFA. | Deliver ads, record earned rewards, limit fraud, and honor regional privacy choices. |
| Catalog requests | Rolens may contact the configured Rolens catalog endpoint to download a signed manifest and creative assets. As with ordinary internet requests, the hosting provider may receive IP address, request time, app/network metadata, and requested file path. | Deliver and update film stocks, lenses, frames, stamps, and supporting assets securely. |
| Support messages | When you choose Contact Support, your email app opens with Rolens version, build, platform, OS, and device model prefilled. The message is not sent until you send it, and you control any photos or other details you attach. | Diagnose and answer your request. |
Rolens does not require your name, phone number, contacts, microphone, health data, or a Rolens login. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your photographs to train models or build advertising profiles.
Service providers
Rolens uses providers only for the functions described above. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy notices:
- Apple: App Store purchases, subscriptions, and the iOS photo library.
- Google: Google Play purchases, Android platform services, Google Mobile Ads, and consent messaging.
- RevenueCat: purchase validation and entitlement management using an anonymous app user identifier.
- The hosting or content-delivery provider configured for Rolens: delivery of the website, catalog manifest, and downloadable creative assets.
These providers may process data in countries other than yours. We require service providers acting for Rolens to protect data consistently with this policy and applicable law.
Your choices and permissions
- You can deny location and continue using the camera without a location stamp.
- You can disable Auto-save and export photographs manually. On iOS, Rolens requests add-only photo-library access rather than full library access.
- You can change camera, location, and photo permissions in system settings.
- Where required, the Google consent message lets you make advertising privacy choices, on Android and iOS. You can also reset or delete your Android advertising ID in device settings; iOS ads in this version do not use IDFA, so there is no iOS advertising identifier to reset.
- You can cancel or manage a subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription.
Retention and deletion
Device content remains until you delete it in Rolens, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Copies already exported to the system photo library remain there until you delete them separately. Downloaded catalog assets may remain in an app cache until replaced, cleared by the operating system, or removed with the app.
Purchase records are retained by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat as needed to validate entitlements, restore purchases, prevent fraud, comply with financial or legal duties, and maintain transaction history. Support emails are retained while needed to resolve the conversation and maintain an appropriate support record, then deleted when no longer needed.
Rolens has no account database to delete. See the Data Deletion page for exact device steps and how to request deletion of support or purchase-related records that can be identified.
Security, children, and changes
Rolens verifies remotely delivered catalog metadata and keeps app-created photos in platform-controlled app storage. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit data flows to those needed for the features described here.
Rolens is a general-audience photography app and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age in their country. We do not knowingly ask children for personal information.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date and publish the revised policy at this URL before or when the change takes effect.
